Based at Niles Discovery Church, Troop 112 is boy-led and adult-supported. Scouts are in charge of planning meetings, campouts, hikes, service projects, and troop and patrol activities. As we are a smaller troop—around 25 scouts—there are plenty of ways for your voice to be heard and to get involved in leadership roles, which are required for rank advancement.
Our charter organization is Niles Discovery Church located at 36600 Niles Blvd. in Fremont. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The troop is arranged in patrols of about 6-8 scouts each, spanning all age groups and ranks, and consisting of a patrol leader and assistant patrol leader. These patrols operate as a "team" to support one another and work together. Patrols give scouts a smaller group with which to bond and advance their scouting career.
Troop 112 plans a monthly overnight campout where scouts have the opportunity to hike, learn to build a fire and cook outdoors, work on merit badges, and enjoy being in nature with friends. Though campouts are encouraged, there is no requirement on how many campouts each scout must attend.
Troop 112 participates in service projects throughout the year including Scouting for Food, flag planting at a National Cemetery, and Coastal Cleanup at Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge.
